Paedophile who messaged underage girl claimed to have abused kids
A paedophile who contacted an underage girl online claimed to have abused children, a court heard.
Jonathan Adrian Meadows, 27, told police he had a “bucket-load” of indecent images when they went to his home to arrest him.
Swansea Crown Court heard Meadows messaged a 15-year-old girl who did not respond and instead reported what had happened to her adult sister. The older sibling responded and Meadows immediately asked if she liked “illegal sexual stuff” and claimed he had abused children.
They reported Meadows and officers from South Wales Police’s online investigation team visited his home in Gower, Swansea, on February 27 last year. He claimed he had been on a social media account when he “stumbled on” a site where people were exchanging pictures and “before I knew it I had a bucket-load of images”. Meadows was arrested and his phones and laptops were seized.
During examination of the devices officers found almost 1,000 images and videos of an extreme nature involving the abuse of children and the abuse of animals with more than 100 of them falling under Category A – the most serious.
Officers also found he was using multiple aliases on social media in order to contact other adults to share indecent material and analysis of hundreds of chat logs found he started nearly all conversations with the question: “Are you curious about child porn?”.
Despite answering “no comment” during his police interview Meadows was subsequently charged with three counts of making indecent images of children, three counts of distributing indecent images of children, and one count of possessing extreme pornographic images of bestiality.
He pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment suspended for two years. He was also made the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and ordered to participate in a rehabilitation programme.
