Convicted paedophile jailed for sex attacks on girl from age seven is ex-councillor

A convicted paedophile jailed for repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl from the age of seven is a former councillor

Graeme Goodsir – jailed for eight years and three months earlier this month – served as a member of Meriden Parish Council for 12 years from 1999.

He admitted 15 sexual offences at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, January 10, after his victim – who is now an adult – told West Midlands Police of her ordeal last year.

Goodsir, 61, of Alspath Road, Meriden, lost his seat on the authority in 2011 and did not stand in ballots in 2015 and 2019.

In addition to his jail term, Goodsir was placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 15 years.
