Lie detector test led to pervert confessing to raping a child after he was snared by Dark Justice
A pervert confessed to raping a 11 year old child when given a lie detector test by police after he was arrested as part of a paedophile hunters sting.
David Nicholson had arranged to meet what he thought was a 13-year-old girl but it was, in fact, a fake profile set up by Dark Justice.
When he was arrested for that in 2018, he had 16 illegal images on his phone, Newcastle Crown Court heard.
He was asked to take part in a polygraph test, agreed and went on to make the shocking confession he had attacked an 11-year-old girl, who he identified
The victim, now an adult, was approached by police and bravely told them about what had happened.
Nicholson, 46, of Gatacre Street, Blyth, pleaded guilty to rape and three offences of indecent assault.
Prosecutor Lee Fish told the court: “The police approached her following admissions that the defendant had made during a polygraph test which was conducted while he was under investigation.”
The victim said in her impact statement she has managed to make a “healthy life” for herself and is proud of all she has achieved, despite her traumatic past.
She said: “I haven’t let this man’s abuse destroy my life entirely. He stole my childhood but he has not stolen my adulthood.”
Sentence was adjourned until Thursday and Nicholson was remanded in custody.
