Sentencing of former March policeman over indecent images adjourned until January

A former March police officer who pleaded guilty to indecent image offences will be sentenced this afternoon (Friday).

Phillip Richardson (49) – now known as John Nicholls – appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 21 and admitted three counts of making an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child and two counts of distributing an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child.

Richardson was arrested in May and dismissed by the force on July 3.

He was remanded into custody will appear at St Albans Crown Court today (Friday) for sentencing.

Nicholls, who had been a beat bobby and the Fenland licensing officer, was arrested in May and dismissed by Cambridgeshire police on July 3.

He had also been a scout leader for 27 years.

Nicholls, a married man who now lives in Doncaster, said that he was prepared for the case to be adjourned.
