Pervert warned he faces prison

A man has been warned he could be jailed after admitting charges of attempting to arrange a child sex offence.

Richard Roberts, of Lon Ogwen, Bangor was told all options remain open after a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court agreed to adjourn sentence for the preparation of reports.

The 49-year-old admitted attempting “to arrange or facilitate an act which would involve the commission of an offence” on a child under 13 at Chester in January this year. He also admitted a charge of inciting a child to engage in sexual behaviour.

Roberts also pleaded guilty to possessing 165 images of an extreme pornographic nature when he was arrested by police on January 26.

Adjourning sentence, Judge Huw Rees said: “You have had the good sense to plead guilty and I direct a pre-sentence report be prepared.

“By doing so I give no indication as to what the sentence will be. All options remain open and you should prepare yourself for custody.”

Roberts was granted bail until a sentence hearing in the New Year.

He was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register before leaving court.
