Blackburn sex pest grabbed nurse’s breast and terrified teenager

A paramedic working as a police station duty nurse was indecently assaulted by a sex pest she had been asked to examine.

Blackburn magistrates heard Yusuf Makda held out his hand towards the paramedic but when she went to shake it lunged forward and grabbed her right breast.

The court was told Makda was in custody because the day before he had attempted to indecently assault a 19-year-old woman in Blackburn town centre.

Makda, 40, of Higher Eanam, Blackburn, was convicted after trial of indecent assault and attempted sexual assault.

He was jailed for a total of 30 weeks and put on the sex offender register for 10 years.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said the 19-year-old was in Blackburn with a friend when they were approached by Makda, who has a history of attacks on random women, and they thought he was a taxi driver.

He shook hands with the girl and then started to stroke her arm which made her feel uncomfortable.

“He kept saying she should come home with him and marry him,” said Miss Allan. “She and her friend walked off but he followed and grabbed her arm and started pulling her.”

The girls saw two community support officers who detained Makda until an officer arrived.

At the police station Makda was taken to the medical room to be assessed by the duty paramedic.

After he had indecently assaulted her he said “sorry, sorry.”

Miss Allan said Makda, in 2015, had been made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
