Derby maths teacher guilty of sexual offence against girl

A maths teacher at a Derby school has confessed to sexually abusing a teenage girl.

Pervert Toby Yates appeared at Derby Crown Court today to answer for his crimes.

The 31-year-old taught at Chellaston Academy, where he was arrested in early July.

Standing in front of Judge Robert Egbuna, Yates pleaded guilty to inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity while he was in a position of trust.

The offence happened earlier this year.

He also admitted three counts of making indecent photographs of children.

He had two of category A, the most serious type, two of category B and 83 of category C.

Yates, of Merevale Way, Stenson Fields, has no previous convictions.

His case was adjourned until September 16. He has been remanded into custody until that time.
