Mum’s horror as lover she met on dating app revealed as child rapist on licence
A mum was horrified to discover her lover who she met on a dating app was a convicted child rapist on licence from prison, a court heard.
Three months after first meeting the unsuspecting woman, Billy Robinson moved in with her and her young family.
As well as hiding his depraved criminal past, Robinson also flouted a court order strictly banning him from living with children.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told police although the 36-year-old was never alone with her children in the house, he had walked the youngest to school.
Billy Robinson had been released in September last year from a 15-year sentence imposed for horrific sex offences on two young girls.
Within days the pervert had met the woman on Plenty Of Fish and they began dating in October.
Prosecutor Keith Yardy told Maidstone Crown Court, Kent, Robinson had lived with the woman for a month before his deceit was discovered.
“This was a very serious, persistent breach and there was a risk of serious harm or distress,” said Mr Yardy.
“The mum refers to her disgust when she found out the truth about the defendant’s record.”
Robinson, also known as Billy Evans and formerly from Sheerness, Kent, admitted failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
He told police he loved the woman and could not bring himself to tell her of his depraved past.
He was jailed yesterday for a total of 28 months but, having been recalled to prison to serve the remainder of his 15-year jail term, it will not affect any release date.
The court heard that as a convicted sex offender, Robinson is required to notify police of any changes to his address.
He said he knew he was in breach but loved her and didn’t know how to tell her.
Robinson also told police the children were ‘happy’ he was living with them.
It was at Maidstone Crown Court in April 2011 that Robinson, then known as Evans, was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment having been convicted of three offences of child rape, three of sexual assault, three of indecent assault, one of gross indecency, and one of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
He was told yesterday by the same sentencing judge, Judge David Griffith-Jones QC, that his ‘flagrant, serious and persistent’ breach of the ban on him living with children was aggravated by his deceit of his then partner.
