A pervert that groomed what he thought were two boys online has been jailed
At his hearing on 29th July 2019, Gary George Searcey of Bulwell appeared at Nottingham Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to:
Two counts of an adult attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child
The court was told that Searcey had contacted the online profiles of who he believed belonged to two schoolboys aged 12 and 14 years old
The pensioner sent a string of sexually explicit messages which showed his clear intent to engage the boys into sexual activity.
However, the children did not exist and were instead adults from paedophile hunting team ‘The Childrens Guardians’ who pose online as children to catch sexual predators who target kids
Due to the location, the team passed the evidence to another team called ‘STOP – Confronted & Caught’ who carried out the sting. The team confronted Searcey and questioned him on his internet activity.
The police were called and Searcey was arrested
The judge handed the pensioner 13 months imprisonment
He was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for ten years
A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed until further notice which will restrict any internet use or contact with children
