Paedophile hoarder gets community order

A hoarder who kept thousands of images of children in a stash at his Portsmouth home has been given a three-year community order.

Victor Wright appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court facing 21 different charges, 16 of possessing indecent photographs of children, three of possessing extreme pornographic images and one of possessing a prohibited image of a child. He pleaded guilty to all of the charges.

The 70-year-old’s defence had said at a previous hearing that Wright had hoarding tendencies.

When arrested, police found 4,469 indecent images of children, 62 moving images of children and 622 images of a person performing a lewd act with an animal.

Wright, of Cheltenham Road, was given a three-year community order, a three-year supervision order and ordered to complete 35 sessions of a sex offenders’ program.

A sexual prevention order also banned Wright from owning any device capable of accessing the internet, searching for child abuse images on the internet and deleting any web browsing history.

He was also banned from owning a dog and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years.
