Bexleyheath paedophile spared jail after sex abuse of young girls

An elderly paedophile who sexually abused two girls over two decades has been spared jailed.

Ray Sadler, 86, of Percy Road, Bexleyheath, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of indecent assault on two girls under the age of 16.

Sadler was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court to 18 months in prison, suspended for 20 months.

He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

The sexual abuse happened in his home in the 1970s and 1980s when the two victims were aged between eight and 15.

He would also take the girls to a local park, where he would carry out further sexual assaults.

The investigation began after a 48-year-old woman came forward in January 2017 to report being abused by Sadler as a child.

During the investigation another victim, also aged 48, was established.

Sadler was voluntarily interviewed in February 2017 and then again on July 2018.
