Paedophile Amazon worker caught with more than 430,000 illegal images of children
A paedophile Amazon employee who was caught with more than 430,000 illegal images of children downloaded them for the “thrill of it” over almost 20 years.
Swansea Crown Court heard how a search warrant was carried out at former Tata Steel engineer Vaughan Price’s home address by police and computer equipment was seized on June 28 last year.
On it they found an extremely high number of indecent images of children and they also seized a number of physical copies of pseudo images of children involved in sexual activity.
In total there were 2,169 Category A still images and 347 Category A moving images – the most serious classification. There were also 4,292 Category B still and 105 Category B moving images found.
Price also had a huge number of Category C images – a total of 430,067 still images and 120 moving. There were also 397 prohibited images of children and one extreme pornographic image.
The 57-year-old, of Fernlea Park, Bryncoch, Neath, was interviewed by police and fully admitted downloading the images, stating it “initially began with adult porn and spiralled into child pornography”.
Helen Randall, prosecuting, said he admitted he knew it was illegal but “got a thrill from doing it”. He had been downloading the images between August 24, 1999, and April 2, 2018.
Price admitted six counts of possessing indecent photographs of children, one offence of possessing prohibited images of children, and one offence of possessing an extreme pornographic image.
Judge Keith Thomas sentenced Price, who had been of previous clean character, to a two-year suspended prison sentnece.
He must complete a 40-day rehabilitation activity requirement and a Maps For Change programme. He must pay £425 prosecution costs and £140 surcharge.
