Paedophile, 36, carried out sickening sex attacks on schoolgirl – and paid £5 to buy her silence
Pervert Aceni Tanumi sexually assaulted a child and performed sex acts on himself in front of her.
The 36-year-old former squaddie also showed the girl adult pornography and paid her £5 and £10 after abusing her.
Tanumi, of Blatchford Close, Meir, denied engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child; causing a child to watch a sexual act; two offences of sexual assault of a child under 13; and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Now Tanumi has been jailed for three years, made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) until further order and placed on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life.
Prosecutor Robert Price said: “The case involves the grooming and sexual abuse of a young girl.
“He gave her money and he told her not to tell anybody about what was happening.
“Our case is he got a sexual kick from showing that young girl pornography, sometimes on a laptop, sometimes on a mobile phone.
“He would take off his clothes and perform a sex act on himself in front of her.
“He repeatedly tried to encourage her to touch his private parts. She resisted that.
“On two occasions he sexually assaulted her.”
The offending came to light after the girl reported the abuse. She said the defendant had showed her his private parts and touched her body. She said he would remove his clothes and perform a sex act on himself. And he invited her to touch his private parts but she declined.
Mr Price added: “He frequently made cash payments. She was given a £5 or £10 note when the abuse took place.
“We say it was classic grooming behaviour. At the time of making the payments he told her not to tell anybody about what had been going on.
“On one occasion he undid the zip on her jeans and tried to touch her private area.”
The laptop and mobile phone were examined and adult pornography was found on both devices.
Mr Price added: “How else would the girl know the defendant had pornography on his mobile phone if he had not shown it to her?”
The defendant denied the allegations stating the girl was making it all up. But he was convicted of all five charges by the jury.
Judge David Fletcher told Tanumi his evidence during the trial was at times ‘completely ridiculous’.
Judge Fletcher said: “The victim was told not to report matters and she was given money by you to try and prevent her from doing just that.
“You engaged in classic grooming behaviour towards her.”
