Accused admits sexual abuse of girl but denies revenge porn
A Co Down man has admitted sexually abusing a teenage girl online but continues to deny an allegation of revenge porn.
Adam Nicholson (22) entered guilty pleas to sexually communicating with a child and inciting the 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity yesterday at Downpatrick Crown Court.
However, Nicholson, from Kinnegar Rocks in Donaghadee, denies an allegation of revenge porn by “disclosing a sexual photograph or film” of the complainant “with intent to cause her distress”.
Standing in the dock of Downpatrick Crown Court yesterday, Nicholson also denied distributing an indecent image of a child, harassing the alleged victim, and two counts of possessing indecent images of a child.
The offences are all alleged to have been committed between September 2015 and November 2016.
Despite the not guilty pleas, defence counsel Conor Holmes said he wanted to make it “quite clear … it will be a plea of guilty to something, it’s just a matter of wording what these charges will be.
“If there is to be any substantive trial, it will be on count seven, the harassment charge.
“But my great aim is that this injured party never sees court,” added the lawyer.
Previous court hearings have heard that despite being charged with inciting the schoolgirl to engage in sexual activity, Nicholson has never met her face to face but had committed the offences over the internet.
Judge Piers Grant released Nicholson on bail and listed the case for review next week.
