Paedophile that raped young boy jailed

Paedophile Sean Walton has been jailed for 15 years after he was convicted of raping a young boy.

The 27-year-old groomed his victim, who was aged between six and eight, and showed him pornographic DVDs.

He touched the boy sexually and encouraged the youngster to touch him before going on to rape him.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the child began acting out the behaviour he had seen on the videos.

He reported the abuse in February last year with a witness describing the youngster as ‘the most traumatised child she had ever come across’.

Walton, of no fixed address but formerly of Newchapel, denied rape of a child under 13; sexual assault of a child under 13; causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity; and causing a child to watch a sex act.

But he was found guilty of all four charges after a trial.

The court heard the victim has been left very traumatised by the abuse.

Judge David Fletcher told Walton: “The victim was aged between six and eight at the time. You started showing him pornographic images. You started to touch him sexually and you would get him to touch you sexually. And you raped him. He said it was horrible and painful.

“He was described by a witness as the most traumatised child she had ever come across. He was angry at the world, lashing out at people, questioning his own sexuality. He was in complete turmoil.

“The victim was raped by you. He had to relive these incidents in interview and in this room.

“You have never had the courage to admit your responsibility for your behaviour in this particular case.

“There was grooming behaviour. There was the utilisation of drugs or alcohol, or both, to facilitate your offending behaviour.

“There was targeting by you of a vulnerable child.”

Walton was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life.

He must serve two thirds of the sentence (10 years) before he can be considered for release by the parole board. His licence period will be extended by a year.
