Twisted POLICE INSPECTOR is paedophile

A twisted POLICE INSPECTOR who made 474 indecent images of children said he was “glad” he had been caught after being given a suspended sentence.

And Lee Bartram admitted to the court “may have tried to touch a child”, if his offending had gone undetected.

The 44-year-old, of Bustleholme Lane, West Bromwich, previously pleaded guilty to a total of 10 counts of making images and videos and distributing them between October 2011 and August last year.

Today at Wolverhampton Crown Court, he also admitted a charge of misconduct in public office after he filmed a five second clip of a young boy walking in Birmingham city centre whilst he was on duty on April 13, 2017.

The court was told the clip focused on the child’s “buttocks and legs”.

West Midlands Police sacked Bartram for gross misconduct in September last year – without notice – stating he had caused “horror and disgust” with his actions.

Robert Price QC, prosecuting, told the court Bartram had downloaded and reposted indecent images of children via Tumblr.

They had been saved in a folder called ‘Lads’.

He said: “He has used Tumblr for two or three years for hobbies, such as gardening – but he had also accesses gay pornography.

“He viewed images of children, and some he saved and reposted. He was sexually stimulated.”

Mr Price said Bartram had also purchased children’s underpants – aged five to six – but had no contact with children.

He added: “When he was arrested, he said he was glad it had all come out as he couldn’t be sure where it would lead as he may touch a child.”

He was to 16 months in prison, suspended for two years. He must also sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Bartram, who worked as an inspector based in Birmingham city centre, was also made the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and a three month curfew between the hours of 9pm and 6am.

West Midlands Police inspector admits making indecent child images

Police inspector Lee Bartram has pleaded guilty to making indecent images of a child and distributing similar images to other paedophiles online

Lee Bartram, of West Midlands Police, was arrested at home on Monday and charged yesterday evening

He was charged with five counts of making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, and two counts of distributing an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child.

The 44-year-old officer, who was based in Birmingham city centre, was remanded in custody at Walsall Magistrates’ Court until sentencing at Wolverhampton Crown Court on September 13

Bartram appeared visibly distressed in the dock this morning, holding his head in his hands throughout.

The former inspector wore a blue logo t-shirt and blue jeans as he appeared for the brief hearing before a district judge.

He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth as an order was made to withhold publication of his address in the interest of his own safety and the safety of his family.
