Paedophile jailed for failing to sign the sex offenders’ register

A LLANDOVERY paedophile has been sent to jail for failing to register as a sex offender.

Ian James Davies, of Clos Pluguen, was sentenced to four months in prison “for the protection of the public”.

Davies received an eight-month prison sentence at Cardiff Crown Court in 2001 for having sex with a girl under the age of 16.

He was also ordered to stay in contact with the police for a decade after his release, but failed to do so.

He was brought before Llanelli magistrates last week, where he admitted failing to comply with the order.

The 35-year-old was already in custody for the hearing because police officers felt he had failed to co-operate with the compilation of a court report.

Sentencing Davies, the magistrates told him: “We are sending you to prison because of the blatant disregard for court orders.

“We have got to consider the protection of the public.”
