Man, 37, jailed over child porn

A man has been jailed for four months after police found hundreds of child porn pictures on his computer.

Mark Sexton, 37, was also banned by a judge from accessing any pornographic site on the internet for the next seven years and his computer equipment was seized by the court.

Sexton was also put on the sex offenders’ register for seven years, after he admitted charges of making and possessing indecent pictures of children.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard yesterday Sexton, of Magazine Farm Way, Colchester, was picked up by police after his details were found on the now-closed Landslide porn site.

He denied any knowledge of the indecent images and said he had not downloaded them from the internet, Chris McCann, prosecuting, said.

Sexton admitted 11 charges of making indecent pictures and eight of possessing indecent pictures when he appeared in court for sentence. Another 20 similar charges were left on the file.

Mr McCann said a total of 800 images were found by police ranging from the lowest level one up to the much more serious pornography in level four. Maria Dineen, mitigating, said Sexton was deeply ashamed and remorseful and references showed he was hard working and respected.

“Those that know him are still at a loss to explain how a man in his position could let curiosity get the better of him,” Miss Dineen said.
