OAP who flashed at girls is jailed for 14 months

AN OAP serial flasher has been jailed for 14 months after admitting exposing himself to teenage girls on four different occasions.

Colin Rankin, from Swadlincote, admitted the offences, which took place between April 2008 and January this year.

The 69-year-old also pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis after police found plants with a street value of £675 and growing equipment at his home in Cleveland Avenue.

Prosecuting, David Outterside, told Derby Crown Court yesterday how Rankin exposed himself to two teenage girls in Swadlincote in April 2008.

The second time he was spotted by a passer-by flashing outside a shop in Newhall.

The third and fourth incidents were on January 22 this year when Rankin twice exposed himself to a 15-year-old girl in Burton Road, Repton.

Judge John Burgess yesterday sentenced Rankin to six months for exposing himself and six months for possession of cannabis, to run consecutively.

He gave Rankin an extra weeks for breaking an order placed on him for two other previous exposure offences.

He also placed him on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.
