Pervert jailed after flouting court ban
A CONVICTED pervert banned from contacting young girls has been jailed after police checked his computer.
A court heard on Thursday how child protection officers had put monitoring software in Jason Hilton’s computer after he admitted grooming and sexual activity with a girl aged 15.
Part of his sentence banned him from contacting any child aged under 18 via the internet.
But when officers checked his computer during an unannounced visit, they discovered the special software had recorded three contacts with young girls.
Chelmsford Crown Court heard how the contact ban was one of the main conditions imposed on 41-year-old Hilton under a sexual offences prevention order.
Hilton admitted breaking the order three times on February 19, 22 and 25 this year and was jailed for a total of a year.
Recorder Patricia Lynch QC told Hilton: “Within a month of getting a new computer, you were back in chat rooms talking to young girls.
“Two of them were 16 and they were still children and they need protecting from people like you,” Recorder Lynch said.
The court heard Hilton, of Butterfield Road, in Boreham, had been given the sex ban order after he admitted grooming the 15-year-old girl, from the Basildon area, before meeting her and taking part in sexual activity with her.
He was a lonely man and with little to do to fill time during the day, he went on his computer, Miss Ashcroft said.
Apart from the jail sentence, the banning order will continue, the judge said.
