Girl abused after man left prison

Jason Malcolm Hamon

A convicted paedophile from Jersey has been sentenced to seven years in prison for repeatedly abusing a girl.

Jason Hamon, 36, pleaded guilty to gross indecency and repeated indecent assaults on the girl, aged 11 and 13 at the time, over a 19-month period.

Hamon had only just been released from prison after serving part of an 18-month sentence for two previous offences against children.

The Royal Court heard how he threatened to smack her if she told her mother.

He repeatedly touched her and tried to get her to commit a sex act, the court heard.

Crown Advocate Conrad Yates said that Hamon abused the girl while she was aged between 11 to 13 in her bed or in the bath.

‘He offered her money not to tell her mother and threatened to kill her if she did,’

In passing sentence, commissioner Francis Hamon OBE said the court had a duty to mark society’s revulsion in cases of abuse and to recognise the long-term effects of the offences on the girl.
