A man who raped a 15-year-old girl at the rubbish tip he ran in Carluke, Lanarkshire, has died in prison.
Ronald Adamson was jailed for nine years in 2009 for a number of attacks on under-age girls.
The 15-year-old victim had been sexually abused by him since the age of 12. Another girl was assaulted between the ages of seven and 13.
The Scottish Prison Service confirmed that the 54-year-old died at HMP Glenochil on Wednesday.
A spokesman said: “Police Scotland have been advised and the matter will be reported to the procurator fiscal.
“Next of kin have been informed and a fatal accident inquiry may be held in due course.”
The rape took place in August 2005 at a civic amenity centre in Carluke.
All the offences Adamson was convicted of were carried out there and at a house in Carluke between 2001 and 2005.
Rubbish tip child rape monster
A DEPRAVED rubbish dump worker who raped a 15-year-old girl in his site office was jailed for nine years yesterday.
Ronald Adamson, 49, also sexually abused his victim from the age of 12 to 15, and another girl from age seven to 13.
The beast was convicted of the sickening attacks on the terrified youngsters by a jury — after callously claiming they were lying.
Last night the rape victim’s aunt — the mum of the other girl — said the family was delighted Adamson had been locked up.
The woman, 37, who cannot be named, said: “We’re absolutely ecstatic. The girls have not stopped smiling since the judge jailed him.
“They just didn’t want him to do this to any other children.
“It tore our family apart but we are trying to get things back on track.
“It’s a relief that it’s over. I just want everyone to know what he is and what he’s done, so he can’t hide away from the truth any more.”
The woman said her daughter told her at age 14 that Adamson had abused her.
The mum added: “He told her she’d be taken away and put in care if she told anyone. And he also threatened to kill us.
“She was very distressed and started self-harming — it was a nightmare.”
The rape took place in August 2005 at the civic amenity centre in Carluke, Lanarkshire. All the offences were committed at the facility and at a house in Carluke, between 2001 and 2005.
Sentencing Adamson yesterday, temporary judge John Beckett QC told him: “The rape was accompanied by contemptuous and degrading sexual language. It happened at a time and place where there was no prospect of the complainer being able to get assistance
“You have expressed no remorse for what you have done.
“You corrupted two young girls and it is necessary to express society’s disapproval of this type of conduct and to protect the public from you.”
Adamson will be monitored for three years after his release. He was also put on the sex offenders’ register.
Afterwards, the rape victim, now 21, and her cousin, 20, hugged.
As Adamson was led away he smiled at his daughter and other relatives and gave them a thumbs-up
